Random Acts of Kindness

So there I was yesterday, having a more or less not great day. The fact that my computer’s antivirus decided to act up certainly did nothing to improve my mood. I bring the computer to the Help Desk around 1:45 after my class got out, thinking they could reinstall the software for me and make sure I didn’t have any viruses.
Well. My computer had other ideas. Two hours, 4 reinstalls, and two techs later, the guy at the Help Desk said it seemed to be finally installing correctly, so I said I’d be back in about half an hour once my shift at the Learning Center down the hall was over.
When the girl from the front desk came over, I thought that someone was here for a tutorial, but lo and behold, it was the guy from the Help Desk bringing me my computer! It was just the kind of kind act I needed to brighten my day.
Given all of this, I decided that it would be a nice idea to write a post about random acts of kindness, so I googled it.
I’ll bet you didn’t know that, not only is there a Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, but that this week is in fact Random Acts of Kindness Week.
The website for the foundation is actually really cool, they have all sorts of ideas on how to spread kindness (both at school and in the community), create a kindness website, free downloads, etc.
So, in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week, I challenge you to perform at least one kind act every day for the next week (if you need some ideas, here are some great lists for kindnesses to yourself and others). Who knows, maybe you’ll make someone’s day the way the kid from the Help Desk made mine. 🙂
